C. S. Lewis

C. S. Lewis has written some great adult fictions. His space trilogy is really worth reading if you haven't already done so.

Out of the Silent Planet is the first. Earth is the silent planet. The story follows the journey of two men, Weston and Ransom, to Mars. Weston goes with ill intent and Ransom finds he has to stop him. Mars is a very old world with all sorts of wonderful creatures.

Perelandra has Weston and Ramsom on Venus. This world is a young and innocent world. Weston is intent on tempting the green lady to pursue her own desires while Ransom seeks to protect her.

That Hideous Strength is set back on earth and involves a dark plot to unleash evil in the earth.

I read them every few years and they are always fresh... nail biters in fact!

Screwtape Letters are the instructional correspondence between a senior demon, Screwtape, and his nephew, a junior demon by the name of Wormwood.

The Great Divorce is an allegorical tale of what happens after death.
